Illinois Speaks event

May 16, 2019 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

This program will be led by Sandra Pfeifer, the speaker of our recent program about East Saint Louis.

Illinois Speaks is a community driven, small group conversations program that seeks to promote discussion within and across communities about issues impacting our lives as a means of strengthening the democratic process. By engaging in the meaningful exchange of ideas and perspectives, these conversations enliven the core of democracy and empower the public. Through discussion, we seek to foster a robust civil society, cohesive interactive communities, and a critical examination of our media. We invite people to engage one another in discussion from all points of view, dig deeper into a given subject, and help create a stronger democratic society.

— “When I presented my East St Louis program at the library, I sensed a real desire from the audience to talk about how to make the world a better place. They were a great audience and I would love to share this program with Breese through your library.” -Sandra Pfeifer
